Aberdeen Port is one of the busiest in Britain. Located in the north east of Scotland it is chiefly a commercial facility handling in excess of 9000 visiting ships and over four million tonnes of cargo every year. In addition to cruise ships using Aberdeen Port as a gateway to much of Scotland.
Aberdeen Port is conveniently located to the south-east of the city with excellent road and rail links to the rest of the UK. Less than one mile away are Aberdeen’s bus and railway stations from where local buses operate regular services to the ferry port.
The facilities in the terminal at Aberdeen Port are limited for passengers awaiting their ferries. There is a lift, disabled access, toilets, a left luggage facility and vending machines provide hot and cold drinks. The ferry port has an arrangement with nearby Ship Row NCP car park enabling passengers to enjoy a special parking rate.
Northlink Ferries is the only ferry company operating services from Aberdeen Port. They have daily crossings to Lerwick in the Shetland Islands that take about 12 hours and four crossings every week to the capital of the Orkney Islands, Kirkwall, that take an average of six hours.
Each of Northlink Ferries’ ships feature modern amenities ensuring that passengers can enjoy a comfortable journey. Facilities include shops selling a variety of goods, an a la carte restaurant and hot and cold drinks and snacks are available. There is comfortable seating in the passenger lounges and private cabins are available.
