The port at Ajaccio is the main one along the west coast of Corsica and is popular for being situated in a beautiful bay area among palm trees and houses full of character and colour. Ever year, thousands of tourists congregate before heading off on ferries to popular destinations around Europe.
The port itself is well facilitated no matter what your needs. Before they board ferries, passengers grab the newspaper or a coffee from the convenience store and the café found in the main terminal. If this isn’t enough, other shops and restaurants are found within a short walking distance of the port.
There are plenty of destinations to choose from when you are at Ajaccio port but none stick out as much as Marseilles which takes about 10 hours to reach with overnight journeys on ferries being offered in abundance.
SNCM is one of the companies which offer trips on its ferries throughout the day from Ajaccio to the south of France. All ferries are equipped with onboard facilities and there are plenty of restaurants and cafés for you too choose from when you aren’t enjoying the onboard entertainment.
When you dock at Marseilles port in one of SNCM’s ferries, you will find yourself at a major hub of the city and the place where most visitors arrive. The Quai des Belges area at the end of the port is famous for its fish market and elegant coffee shops were many people relax and catch their breath.
If you find yourself having difficulty getting around in Marseille and require a bit of inspiration in terms of things to do, there is a Tourist Information City near the main pier at B92Marseille and, after they have got off their ferries and collected their bags, this is the first place that visitors head to organise their accommodation.
