Liverpool serves as one of the UK’s main ports and extends along the River Mersey jointly into Liverpool and Birkenhead. From Belfast, travellers can take the Norse Irish Ferries’ Cruise to arrive in Liverpool.
The port in Liverpool has a range of services and attractions for passengers to enjoy whilst awaiting the ferry. At Liverpool, visitors will find a large selection of pubs, restaurants and shops. Additionally, guests can visit one of two cathedrals located in Liverpool built in the 20th century, as well as popular sites visited by the Beatles, who hail from Liverpool.
The ferry journey from Belfast to Liverpool is 8 hours, 30 minutes long. Norse Irish Ferries’ offers sailings on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. One overnight sailing a week is available and listings should be checked for overnight departures.
In Belfast, visitors will find a wide range of dining options and shopping as Belfast is one of Ireland’s largest ports. The ferry port also services a large portion of freight brought into Northern Ireland, including 95 per cent of the petrol consumed in the north.
The newly constructed port for Liverpool, Twelve Quays River Terminal, located in Birkenhead, contains facilities such a cafeteria, a passenger lounge, check-in station, as well as a rest area with bathing facilities for haulage drivers.
Belfast is the largest ferry port in Ireland and serves more than two million passengers per year. Although the facilities at this port are limited, the terminal does offer a snack station in the departure lounge, as well as ATMs and vending machines in the Motorist Terminal.
The Belfast to Liverpool ferry provides vehicle storage for those passengers travelling with cars. Additionally, the ferry also is outfitted with special facilities for passengers with limited mobility. Easily accessible washrooms and wheelchair access points are available in both terminals, as well as on the Norse Irish Ferries’ Cruise Ferry.
