Bilbao is one of the busiest seaports in Spain. Ferries do not actually dock here however, they use a local port about 15 miles from the city. Bilbao is a major city in the North of Spain and one ferry operator, P & O Ferries, provide regular crossings to the south of England.

Bilbao Port boasts excellent road and rail links with the whole of Spain. The P&O terminal can easily be reached from both Madrid and Barcelona in the east and Santander in the west via the A8 motorway. Regular train and bus services get passengers to Bilbao and onward destinations and taxis are available.

P&O Ferries has their own dedicated terminal at Bilbao Port and from here they operate a service to Portsmouth on the south coast of England. The route has an average crossing time of 28 hours and runs up to three times a week.

There are bars and entertainment available to help pass the time on the crossing and comfortable cabin accommodation with showering facilities provide passengers somewhere to relax in private.

Bilbao Port provides an ideal gateway to visitors to the wonderful city of Bilbao with its lively bars and superb restaurants. Both the Fine Arts Museum and the Basque Museum are well worth visiting and the 19th century promenades and beaches of San Sebastien should not be missed.
