Boulogne Port is on north coast of France positioned opposite the port of Dover and only 15 minutes from the Channel Tunnel. Located on one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world this is major access point to France from the UK. LD Lines provide services from Boulogne Port to Dover.

Investment in recent years has provided Boulogne Port with a new road link to the main A16 and the French motorway network. Bus routes to major French destinations are available from the town centre, only 200m from the terminal, and the main train station in town operates services throughout France.

Like many similar facilities at Boulogne Port has limited amenities for ferry passengers. In addition to the toilets there is a convenience store, a newsagent and somewhere to get a snack and a drink. The proximity of the town centre provides a much wider selection of shops, bars and eateries.

The ferry route from Boulogne Port is subsidised by the French government and operated by LD Lines. There are up to six sailings every day on either the conventional ferry that completes the journey in 1 hour, 45 minutes or the fast craft vessel that does the trip in about one hour.

Both LD Lines vessels have great facilities for passengers who can enjoy a mix of bars and restaurants. There is a business lounge equipped with a wireless internet access, cabins and low cost reclining seats are available. The fast craft vessel, Norman Spirit, also has a children’s play area, an amusement arcade and shopping facilities.

Access to the town from Boulogne Port make reaching the local shops and restaurants easy. This is France’s largest fishing port and one of the major processing, wholesaling and retailing centres of seafood in Europe. Ferry passengers should try to take time out to enjoy a meal at one of the many excellent seafood restaurants near the port.
