Situated just a few kilometres from the Eternal City, Civitavecchia is Italy’s second largest port with over two million passengers passing through each year. The ancient harbour receives ferries carrying passengers to and from the islands of Sicily and Sardinia, as well as luxurious cruise liners.

Tirrenia Ferries operates services to Cagliari, Arbatax and Olbia. Ferries sail to these three destinations on the popular island of Sardinia on a daily basis. The vessels are well designed and decked out with a good range of facilities such as shops, bars, restaurants and cabins. Sardinia is an ever-growing holiday resort, famed for beautiful beaches and striking coastline.

Ferrovie dello Stato also provides connections to Sardinia, with ferries from this company docking in Olbia. Daily sailings operate throughout the year, and the ship is designed to accommodate both passengers and vehicles. Sardinia Ferries also operates a service to Golfo Aranci each day.

All ferries are designed to accommodate disabled passengers, with foot ramps and specially adapted toilets on each vessel. Assistance with boarding can be arranged, but passengers should advise staff at the time of making their reservation. Three ferry companies serve the terminal, with many services operating on a daily basis.

The terminal at Civitavecchia is well equipped and provides for all passenger needs. Waiting rooms and refreshment bars provide a comfortable space for passengers before boarding, while ATMs and an information bureau provide an opportunity to obtain money or information.

Civitavecchia is linked to a major road network which branches throughout the country, as well as a rail line. The port is conveniently positioned on the Turin to Rome line which also branches to Florence and Bologna. The closet airport is Fiumicino, which is located 50km away and is served by international flights.
