Fleetwood Port is located on the Lancashire coast and is one of the key ports in the UK for roll on – roll off ferry crossings to and from Larne in Northern Ireland. It is also possible to take day cruises from here around the Irish Sea and Morecambe Bay.
There are only limited services available at the ferry terminal. There is a small convenience store and a café offering light refreshments and snacks. Limited car parking is available at the port. A wider range of shops, banks and eateries are available in the nearby town of Fleetwood.
Stena Line operates two daytime ferry crossings to Larne and one nighttime crossing. The journey time takes around eight hours. The Fleetwood to Larne service does not accommodate foot passengers. The route is not suitable for passengers with young children, disabled or infirm because there are no lifts on board the ferry and the only way to reach the passenger deck is via a steep stairway. There are no ferry crossings on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve.
During the summer months, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company offer a limited service between Fleetwood and Douglas in the Isle of Man.
The port at Fleetwood is easily accessible by car, bus and train. For people coming by car, turn off at junction 3 on the M55 and take the A585 to Fleetwood town centre. From the town centre, the Docks are clearly signposted. Fleetwood Ferry Port is just off Dock Street. There are regular bus and trains services to Fleetwood Port from Blackpool.
There are future plans to build a multi-million pound recreation zone called Fleetwood Harbour Village next to the current Fleetwood Port. It is hoped that as a result of Fleetwood Village Harbour development, more people will choose to travel from Fleetwood to Larne rather than the more popular route from Liverpool to Belfast.
