The Hook of Holland, meaning the corner of Holland, is the seaward port of Rotterdam in southern Netherlands. It is a busy port with daily freight ferries to Hook van Holland from UK ports; namely Harwich and Newcastle.
There are four crossings per day from Harwich in Essex, UK, to freight ferries to Hook van Holland aboard Stena Line’s high-speed catamaran. It is the quickest route between the UK and Holland, taking a little over six hours. In addition, there is also a slower service from Hull in the English northeast.

Rotterdam is a few miles to the east of the Hook of Holland along the Nieuwe Waterweg ship canal and is the country’s second largest city after Amsterdam. In addition, Amsterdam is also well within reach with freight ferries to Hook van Holland, and many passengers also head down to Port Zealande.
