Italy’s port city of Genoa is one of the busiest of the Mediterranean because of its accessible and convenient harbour. Devastated during World War Two, the port has since been reconstructed and redeveloped to become a modern and vibrant sea hub. From Genoa, several surrounding cities are connected via ferry service, including the city of Olbia.
The port of Genoa consists of two terminals for passenger ferry ships. Both terminals are designed similar to an airport, which provides faster check-in, and several other high-quality facilities. Restaurants, café’s, shops, ATM’s and information desks are available in both terminals.
Grandi Navi Veloci is a ferry company operating the route between Genoa and Olbia. Established in 1992 as part of the Grimaldi Group, the modern vessels can carry freight and cars along with passengers, and provide an elegant experience similar to that of cruise ships.
Moby Lines also provide services between Genoa and Olbia. However, they also operate a much more extensive route between Italy, Sardinia and Corsica. Some of the vessels used for the crossing include the Moby Freedom and the Moby Wonder, which offer restaurants, lounges, bars, several viewing decks, and a variety of shops.
Some of the facilities are not just designed for adults. Children and teenagers will also be delighted with the services on board. For younger children, playrooms and games rooms are available for their enjoyment. Also, a snack bar, pizza eatery, maxi-screen and arcade is offered for older children and teenagers.
The port city of Olbia is situated on the north-east coast of Sardinia. The port remains busy throughout the entire year, but particularly in summer, where thousands of tourists are welcomed by the Olbia Ferry Port terminal on a daily basis. Olbia is home to some unrivalled ancient Roman and Ancient Greek ruins.
