Due to its strategic location to both Western Europe and the Adriatic Sea islands, Greece’s Igoumenitsa Port is one of the busiest and most important sea hubs in the region. The ferry crossings connect Igoumenitsa to several Greek and Italian port cities, and Brindesi, Bari and Ancona.
A number ferry companies operate crossings from Igoumenitsa. Agoudimos Lines, a Greek owned company, handles connections to Bari and Brindesi, sailing three and six times each week respectively. The Bari line takes about eight hours to cross, while the Brindesi journey is slightly quicker by 30 minutes. Endeavor Lines also services crossings to Brindesi twice daily, with a sailing duration of 7 hours, 15 minutes.
Minoan Lines, one of Europe’s most respected sea ferry companies, connects Igoumenitsa to three cities – Patras (eight hours), Ancona (14 hours) and Venice (23 hours). Superfast Ferries also connects Igoumenitsa to Ancona and Bari with daily services. The duration of the journeys are 14 and 8 hours respectively.
ANEK Lines sail to Ancona and Trieste on a daily basis during the peak summer months. Ventouris Ferries sails daily from Igoumenitsa to Bari, with a brief stop at Corfu en route. The crossing takes about 10 hours, 30 minutes to complete and passengers are provided with excellent onboard facilities to remain entertained throughout the journey. Passengers with special requirements are provided with facilities and services to also help make their ferry experience as comfortable as possible.
The Igoumenitsa Ferry Port has short and long term parking available, and is well linked to other Greek cities and islands through various convenient transport options. Bus and rail networks are available near the port, linking visitors and locals to further destinations relatively easily. The closest airports are in Corfu and Ioannina, which provide air access to the rest of Europe.
