The Port of Larne is Northern Islands most active ferry port and has daily sailings to Cairnryan and Troon in Scotland and Fleetwood in the England. It is located on the northern coast which makes it a great point of arrival for those wishing to see the northern part of the country. With 38 arrivals and departures every day, and the closest point of crossing to the UK, the ports geographical location is second to none.

The passenger terminal at Larne is very modern with great facilities for travellers, on a par with major international airports. Facilities at the port include; a buffet, convenience store, lounge area, integrated bus and rail stations, ATMs, tourist information desks and disabled facilities.

A first class passenger service is offered by P&O Irish Sea on a number of fast and conventional ferries. The trips from Northern Ireland to England are fast and comfortable. P&O Irish Sea’s Superstar Express will reach Cairnryan in just an hour whilst their new ship European Causeway will do it in 1 hour, 40 minutes. There are eight trips per day during the summer and six during winter.

Daily sailings from Larne to Fleetwood, Lancashire, are also available with P&O with departures at 10:00 and 22:00 with an additional sailing at 16:00 Monday to Friday. Sailings to Troon are strictly freight only with sailings daily at 07:40 and 19:00.

The road network in Northern Ireland is top notch and roads remain mainly uncongested. The rest of the country can be reached within two hours from Parne, whilst Belfast is just 20 minutes away and Dublin is three hours. Ulsterbus runs a regular bus service from the town to the terminal whilst Northern Ireland Railways connects Larne via Belfast Central Station to the rest of the country. Both short and long stay parking are available at the passenger terminal.
