The P&O Irish Sea ferry company operates a regular daily crossing from Larne to Troon. P&O is the parent company of P&O Irish Sea, and is one of the most trusted and longest running ferry companies. The Larne to Troon route also serves the port of Cairnryan.
The crossing takes approximately one hour on the fast ferry, but if you prefer a more leisurely speed, then one of P&O Irish Sea’s Superferries, is the other option, taking around 1 hour, 45 minutes. The Larne to Troon route is one that is regularly used by holiday makers and business men travelling between Ireland and Scotland.
Ferries depart at regular times with the express ferry runs from March until October, and departs five times a day at 07:30, 12:45, 15:55, 16:30 and 20:00. The slower Superferry runs three times a day. Vehicles can be driven on, and parked below deck.
Onboard the ferry, there are various facilities for your comfort and convenience. These include various shops, including a duty-free shop, play areas to keep the children occupied, a video lounge, restaurants, a bar and coffee shop, as well as pet facilities, disabled access, and large seating areas.
P&O Irish Fleet has five ferries in its fleet. Four of these are the Superferries, and the last one is the Express ferry. Each ferry can hold large amounts of passengers in comfort and safety.
Taking the ferry service between Larne and Troon is probably the best way to travel between Ireland and Scotland, as it is cheap and convenient as well as there being more freedom onboard a ferry than on a plane. Both Larne and Troon are beautiful places to visit, with much to do for all of the family, and are also full of history and tales as much of Britain and Ireland are.
