The Port of Newhaven is a small but busy port between Brighton and Eastbourne on the south coast of England. Transmanche Ferries and LD Lines operate services on the route between Newhaven and Dieppe and provide up to five round trips every day with a journey time of four hours each way.
From Newhaven, the ferry port is clearly signposted for those travelling by car. There is a regular bus service from Brighton and other local towns and National Express operate a frequent coach service to Newhaven from various locations. The train station is adjacent to the foot passenger terminal and in addition to local services are regular trains to and from London.
The Newhaven ferry terminal building is modern, accessible for wheelchair users and has toilets adapted for disabled passengers. Travellers requiring assistance to board the ferry should contact their service operator before arrival. The port facilities are limited to a convenience store and coffee shop where drinks and snacks are available.
All ferries used for the Newhaven and Dieppe are well-equipped with modern amenities so that passengers can enjoy their trip in comfort. Standard facilities include shops selling gifts, cosmetics, perfumes and alcohol and a selection of bars, restaurants and self-service cafés.
Entertainment is limited onboard the ferries but passengers can make use of the gaming machines and there are children’s play-areas. The passenger lounges provide excellent panoramic views with seats similar to those found on airplanes. For more privacy comfortable cabins are available and are priced according to size and their position onboard.
Dieppe Ferry Port is an excellent gateway to many parts of France but particularly Normandy and Brittany. The ferry harbour and the pleasure port and separated by the Pont Ango where the tourist office is located. Facilities in the terminal building include a newsagents and a café serving hot and cold snacks and drinks.
