The stunning port city of Nice is best known as the gateway to the beautiful French Riviera, but the ferries which sail out of Nice port are also leisurely gateways to the equally scenic Mediterranean island of Corsica. The port is just 32kms west of the Italian border and very close to the principality of Monaco.
The port of Nice is conveniently located in the heart of the city’s historic distance and within walking distance of many of Nice’s main attractions. Two ferry terminals are located within the port, both of which include car parks, phones, showers, toilets, tourist information centres, baby changing facilities, vending machines, games rooms, and entrance halls with air conditioning.
Corsica Ferries and SNCM Ferries both provide regular ferry service between Nice Port and the Corsican towns of Calvi, Ile Rousse, Ajaccio, and Bastia all year long. Both ferry companies operating from Nice Port give passengers the opportunity to choose between NGV high speed ferries or more leisurely conventional car ferries. The ferries to Bastia and Calvi run daily.
The facilities aboard the eight vessels operated by Corsica Ferries include two restaurants, amenities for disabled passengers, and a large variety of cabins. The high speed vessels operated by SNCM Ferries which take passengers between Nice Port and Corsica in only three hours include boutiques, bars, and shops. SNCM Ferries also operates two conventional car ferries providing night or day voyages and offering amenities such as pools, shops, games rooms, nightclubs, and Jacuzzis.
Most of Nice’s major tourist attractions are within easy walking distance of Nice port, including several lively nightclubs, picturesque French cafés, and recommended restaurants. Ferry passengers may also enjoy visiting Nice’s more than 32 historic monuments, 19 art galleries and museums, 150 lakes, numerous green spaces, Cours Saleya Flower Market, and famous Promenade des Anglais.
