Northlink Ferries offers a ferry service to and from the Northern Islands of Scotland. The company has a new fleet of state-of-the-art-ships which will provide passengers with comfort on their way to the Orkney and Shetland islands. Northlink offers three daily sailings from Scrabster to Stormness in Orkney as well as night time sailings from Aberdeen to the port of Lerwick in the Shetlands. Four of these sailings stop off at Orkney’s capital, Kirkwall, on route.
Sailings leave Scrabster to Stormness three times daily on weekdays and twice daily on the weekends, with each crossing taking around 90 minutes. Aberdeen is connected to Kirkwall three times per week with a journey time of 17 hours, 15 minutes. Aberdeen to Lerwick is a shorter trip, taking 12 hours and Northlink offers one trip per day. Sailings between Lerwick and Kirkwall are offered three times per week with the journey taking approximately five hours.
Two 125-metre drive-through passenger sister ships as well as a slightly smaller 10 metre passenger ship make up Northlink’s Fleet, although all ships can hold 600 passengers as well as freight and vehicles.
On board facilities include a restaurant with an a-la-carte service where passengers can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard. All meals are freshly produced and use only the best local produce from the islands.
There is after-dinner entertainment provided at the lounge, bar and club and during peak seasons Northlink offers live onboard entertainment as well. In addition multi-screen viewing is available all year round. There is also a shop on board all ships and a children’s play area, which is adjacent to the ships other facilities which makes parenting that little bit easier. Disabled travelers are well catered for with good wheelchair access and disabled toilets.
