Stena Line Ferries

Stena Line is a leading company in the world’s ferry transport field, operating passenger and freight services since 1962. Beginning with a seasonal Gothenburg (Sweden) to Skagen (Denmark) connection, Stena Line has developed and expanded its services over the years to currently handle 18 routes between 12 different European, Scandinavian and UK countries.

Last year alone, around 16 million passengers used Stena Line services, as it operated over 76,000 departures. In the UK, Some of the most popular routes throughout include Dun Laoghaire to Dublin, Stranraer to Belfast, and Harwich to Hook of Holland.

The European routes include Gdynia to Karlskrona, and the German to Sweden connection between Kiel or Travemunde and Goteburg. Travel time on these routes is about 14 hours, operating as an overnight journey.

The Scandinavian routes carry about 12 million passengers annually, making this region the busiest for Stena Line services. Some of the most used routes include the Fredrikshavn to Goteburg and Oslo to Fredrikshaven routes.

There are 33 varying vessels currently in operation. The ships come in several categories. High-speed ferries can carry passengers, cars, and coaches, while multipurpose ferries are designed to also cater for freight cargo. Ro-pax ferries are designed with the emphasis on freight, but do carry passengers, unlike the Freight vessels, which operate and cater solely for lorries and trailers, and their drivers.

The Stena Line vessels are fully equipped to ensure a safe and pleasant journey from departure to arrival. Some of the services found onboard include enticing restaurants, spacious and comfortable cabins, and entertainment areas. Onboard select vessels, such as the Stena Baltica and Stena Scandinavica, passengers are provided with extra facilities such as nightclubs, bars, discos, and children’s areas.

Some of the vessels provide a selection of cabins for passengers to choose from. These include standard cabins, family-sized cabins, and for the lavish passengers, the Captain’s Suites. Nevertheless, all cabins provide basic amenities, such as bed linen, comfortable furniture, and private bathrooms.
