Tirrenia Lines, known also as Tirrenia di Navigazione, provides an unsurpassed ferry service from several Italian ports to a number of destinations throughout the Mediterranean. Operating since 1936, the company has underdone a significant change in routes, services and vessels.
There is a large selection of routes with Tirrenia Lines, which are generally focused around Sardinia and Sicily, with one route to Albania. From Genoa, crossings are made to Porto Torres, Olbia, and Arbatax. The Genoa-Porto Torres and Genoa-Olbia depart once or twice daily, and take about 8 and 13 hours respectively.
From Civitavecchia, Tirrenia Lines connects passengers to Olbia, Arbatax and Cagliari. During the peak season, two or three crossings from Civitavecchia to Olbia occur daily, while the Civitavecchia to Arbatax route only sails twice weekly. The Bari to Durres route departs once or twice daily, and takes about seven hours to make the crossing.
The fleet of Tirrenia Lines boasts modern design intertwined with unrivaled comfort and elegance. Over the past few years, the fleet has been upgraded with new and newly refurbished vessels. Some of the new cruise ships include the Vincenzo Florio, Raffaele Rubattino, Athara and Sharden. Some of the older, yet beautifully refitted vessels are the Nomentana, Aurelia, and Clodia.
While onboard, passengers are greeted with a vast array of facilities and services to make their experience with Tirrenia Lines a memorable one. Passengers can sit down to a fine meal at the enticing restaurant, or enjoy a drink at one of three lounges provided. There is also a cinema, shopping outlets, and a children’s corner.
The cabins onboard the vessels generally offer two and four bed cabins, which include basic amenities to make the passengers stay as comfortable as possible. For those routes not requiring compulsory cabins, passengers can sit and relax on the plethora of first class and second class deck chairs.
